Interview Coaching, Skill Optimisation and Appraisal
INTERVIEW COACHING You might think that you are the best person for the job you are applying for. You might have all the right expertise and qualifications by the bucket load, but will you be able to convince your interviewer that you really are the only logical choice for the position? Be in no doubt that there will be others who have the same qualifications and experience and may even have more than you do. It is a tough market out there. You are going to have to stand out from the crowd if you are to land that job, and the only way you can do that is by making yours the interview that the interviewers remember, to make yourself the candidate they want to see for a second interview and ultimately the person they want to award that job to! The coaching you are going to receive will cover the following: Dressing appropriately for interview Making that vital strong first impression Keeping those interview nerves under control Using your tone of voice to convey your enthusiasm and to engage your interviewer The importance of the right body language The right use of eye contact Being concise and convincing when you present your ideas How to avoid being derailed by difficult questions Making confident and authoritative presentations, whether pre-prepared or ad hoc How to anticipate and be prepared for questions that might be asked - that old interview favourite that has stumped many a candidate – (what do you see as your weaknesses?) Keeping your cool when the unexpected happens How to sell yourself successfully (There is a fine line between selling and appearing arrogant) Now, if even just one of the areas above is something you recognise as a weakness in your interview skills, can you afford to run the risk that this weak area will hand that coveted job to a rival? And, similarly if you think it would be possible to improve your interview performance in even one of these areas, doesn’t that mean you would be more likely to get that job offer? It is undoubtedly more difficult in the current economic climate for employers and employees alike in the job market. Employers are often overwhelmed by the response to a job advertised, and often very highly skilled and experienced candidates may be competing at interview. After seeing potentially dozens of applicants, and at the end of a busy interviewing day you need the interviewers to remember you. In your coaching session your trainer will work with you to identify and address your specific issues and how best to tackle them. This is not the kind of coaching that you could read up on in a text book, or study online. Our interview coaching will focus on your own development needs. There is nothing generic about this training. We know that each candidate is an individual and will need very specific individually tailored coaching. We will identify the areas of interview that are working well for you and most importantly, will give you the coaching to address any weak areas in your interviewing technique. I think that this quotation from American Author Brian Tracy says it all! If what you are doing is not moving you towards your goals, then it's moving you away from your goals. (Brian Tracy) You may not need a lot of help in getting to your goal, or you may need a lot. One thing we can promise you is that working together we will make your interview technique the very best it can be. Amanda Thomas Chapter Manor South Cerney Glos.
